Two different funding opportunities, the Oklahoma Healthy Foods Funding Program and the Farming Improvement and Diversification Program, are now available from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Oklahoma. Applications will close on July 1, 2022.
The Oklahoma Healthy Foods Funding Program aims to create or improve a retail outlet in areas with low access to fresh foods and low incomes. These projects could include, but are not limited to, the construction of new grocery stores; construction of small food retailers; or renovations, expansions and infrastructure improvements of grocery stores or small food retailers that improve the availability and quality of fresh produce and other healthy foods.
The Agriculture Improvement and Diversification Program helps fund projects that create rural economic development by bringing new income to the farm and increasing jobs in rural areas of the state. Five sources of funding are available: Farm Diversification Grant, Farm Event Grant, Commercialization and Utilization Loan, Cooperative Marketing Loan, and Basic and Applied Research Loan/Grant. The objective of the program is to expand the state’s value-added sector and encourage agricultural diversification.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available for both programs, while loans are not limited to a dollar amount.
